Scope of Practice Disclaimer
Scope of Practice Disclaimer
The New Years is a multidisciplinary pediatric clinic offering services from regulated and certified health professionals, and other licensed providers.
- Each clinician provides care solely within their professional scope of practice and in accordance with their regulatory college or governing body.
- Our services do not replace medical or emergency care. We do not diagnose medical conditions unless permitted within a provider’s professional scope, and we do not offer urgent or emergency treatment. If your child requires immediate medical attention, please call 911 or visit your nearest emergency department.
- Collaboration is central to our approach. Our therapists frequently work alongside pediatricians, dentists, midwives, and other health professionals to support your child’s developmental and feeding journey. This collaboration supplements—rather than replaces—the role of your primary medical provider.
Consent to Treatment Overview
The New Years is committed to informed, collaborative care. We view consent as an ongoing dialogue, not a one-time signature.
Informed Consent
Before assessment or treatment begins, your clinician will review:
- The nature and purpose of the proposed service
- Expected benefits and potential risks
- Available alternatives (including choosing no treatment)
- How your information will be collected, used, and safeguarded
You are encouraged to ask questions at any time.
Right to Withdraw Consent
You may withdraw or change your consent at any point, for any reason, without affecting your relationship with the clinic or your provider. If your child is old enough to participate meaningfully, their consent will also be considered and respected.
How Consent Is Documented
Consent is documented through:
- Signed electronic intake forms within Jane
- Verbal confirmation during sessions, as clinically indicated
- Documentation within your child’s clinical record ,noting discussions and consent changes
Ongoing consent is revisited throughout your therapeutic relationship, especially when treatment plans evolve.
